Over the past four years, Beholding & Becoming has served over one hundred people throughout Volusia County, providing Christ centered, clinically informed, compassionate counseling. We've always sought to make our services accessible to anyone seeking hope in the midst of hardships. While we have loved seeing how God has provided through the means of generous donors, faithful prayers, and kindhearted church partners, the realities of operating a non-profit organization with only one staff member has proven to be challenging in many ways.
Over the past two years, I began praying for relief. At first I wasn't sure what form that relief might take. But God knew, and he carefully put the pieces together in ways far beyond anything I could have hoped for! In God's particular care, throughout the last eighteen months, I have been blessed by a sweet friendship with a sister organization based out of Ohio. Fieldstone Counseling, a like-minded and growing ministry, has consistently offered their support, resources, and camraderie. For the past six months, I have been working alongside them in providing remote counseling services to individuals and families across the United States and internationally.
Through this friendship, our board of directors has chosen to dissolve B&B formally at the end of 2019. We'll be closing out our books and transitioning our counseling cases to Fieldstone. I will remain at my current location in West Volusia, while also continuing to provide remote counseling; but as of January 1, 2020, all of those services will be under the umbrella of Fieldstone Counseling.
This is an exciting time for our team! B&B's mission and vision mirrors that of Fieldstone, and so this is a natural fit. We don't view this as B&B "closing up shop" or coming to an end. We may not carry the name anymore, but our mission remains the same. This is simply a new season of ministry, one that I believe will benefit my current counselees, and those in our local community who will receive counseling in the future. Because of this transition, I will now be freed up of many of the burdensome administrative tasks and able to devote more of my time and energies to the work of being in the counseling room, which is where I believe I belong.
You may have some questions about how this will impact those we serve, as well as the donor relationships we have with many of you. We will be reaching out with additional details in the coming weeks. For now, we would ask that if you are a current B&B donor, you would continue with your financial commitments through the end of 2019. At that time, we'll notify you of how you may transition your gifts to Fieldstone Counseling for 2020 (should you desire to do so) and provide you with a year-end giving statement.
In the meantime, if you wish to give a year-end love offering to help during this time of transition, you may do so here.* This transition, while exciting, does present a unique challenge in how I provide for myself. Much like a missionary transitioning off of the mission field, I'll be facing some significant salary changes over the next few months. God has always provided for my needs, and I trust he will continue to do so during this season.
How can you pray with me in the coming weeks?
- Pray for the time, energy and resources needed to navigate this transition.
- Pray for those I counsel, that they would continue to be helped by the hope we find in Christ and his gospel. He is the source of all change!
- Pray for the leadership team at Fieldstone and myself as we finalize the details of this transition.
- Pray for a seamless process as we tie up logistical details for B&B at the close of 2019.
- Pray for our local community and churches, that our team at Fieldstone would discern the best ways we can serve this area with the skills and resources God has provided.
Thank you for all the love, support and encouragement so many of you have offered to me over the past four years. This season will always be a treasured memory for me of God's goodness, and I am eager to see that goodness carry over into my new role at Fieldstone.
"I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! Wait for the LORD; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the LORD!" (Psalm 27:13-14)
In our beholding, may we become like him!
